Dr.A.K. THARIEN CHAIR FOR RECONCILIATION

Dr.A.K.Tharien Chair for Reconciliation was established in honor of the late Dr A.K. Tharien, in 2014 at the Manapakkamcentre "Paripurna" for training and development. Dr.A.K.Tharien whose sacrificial service to the poor, by establishing a Christian Fellowship Hospital, in Oddanchatram as well as his leadership to ICSA and the ecumenical moment in large has been the inspiration to all the programs that have been conducted.

The Specialized Program conducts trainings for Indian and overseas participants on various aspects which are crucial to the life and witness of the Church in India.

Student Christian Movement of India – Human Rights Desk in partnership with Inter Church Service Association Dr. A. K. Tharien Chair for Reconciliation Workshop on the Constitution & Legal Space for Nation Building January 31st to 2nd February 2019

Workshop on the Constitution & Legal Space for Nation Building was organized by Dr. A.K. Tharien Chair of ICSA in coloration with the Student Christina Moment of India’s Human Rights Desk, from 31st of January to 2nd of February, 2019 at ICSA Paripurna Centre at Manapakkam. 28 participants from across the South of India attended the program representing 4 regional locations (Kerala, Karnataka, Andra Pradesh, and North & South Tamil Nadu).

Curriculum Development Workshop on Political Theology in India - Senate of Serampore College (University), The Board of Theological Education of the Senate of Serampore College (BTESSC)in partnership with ICSA - Dr. A. K. Tharien Chair for Reconciliation October 10- 11, 2018

The consultation on Curriculum Development on Political Theology was organised by the Senate of Serampore of College (University), The Board of Theological Education of Senate of Serampore in coloration with Inter Church Service Association (ICSA)

Participants who presented papers and drafted the syllabus were - Rev.Dr. K Patro {Registrar Senate of Serampore}, Rev. Dr. Thathapudi Matthews Emmanuel {Secretary Board of Theological Education –SSE}, Dr.D.R. Sadananda {General Secretary CSI Synod}, Rev. Dr. D. Rajandran {Principle Tamilnadu Theological Seminary -TTS}, Prof. MammenVarkey {Chief Editor Peoples Report}, Dr.Moses P. Manohar {Executive Director ICSA}

The outcome of this Consultation was the drafting and preparation of the syllabus for Political Theology for all Theological Seminaries and Colleges in India under the preview of the Senate of Serampore

National Workshop on Inclusive India – The Constitution & Legal Space for Nation Building organized by Dr. A.K. Tharien Chair, ICSA September 26- 29, 2018

36 participants from across India attended the program representing 13 national and international institutes. The program was inaugurated by none other than Justice D. Hariparathaman (Retired Madras High Court Judge and Human Rights Activist.

Rev. Dr.Packiam T. Samuel (Director, Henry Martyn Institute) was one of the many speakers . We had activists (RTI, RTE, Public Interest Litigation), lawyers, Department Heads from MCC & Stella Maris who spoke about Economy and Development, Gender, Cast and Dalit Struggles and Dr.Moses P. Manohar Executive Director ICSA spoke about the Constitution of India

Summer Academy of Leadership and Governance, organized by Dr. A.K. Tharien Chair, ICSA May 8-12, 2018

Summer Academy of Leadership &Governance wasorganized by Dr. A.K. Tharien Chair for Reconciliation , from May 8 to 12, 2018 at ICSA Paripurna Centre. Manapakkam. 30 participants from several states in India such as Madhya Pradesh, Orissa, Andhra Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, Kerala, Karnatakaattended theprogramme. Rev DrReji Samuel, Dean of Dr A.K. Tharien Chair welcomed the gathering . Dr. Moses P. Manohar, Executive Director, ICSA introduced the seminar and the chief Guest – Dr.R.Christudhas Gandhi IAS (RTD). Legal Experts, Administrators and Activists spoke and shared from their experience. The focus of the programme was to develop an interest in the study of the Constitution. The participants were also introduced to RTI, Panchayat Raj System and Lokayukta.
